Town & Country Trio (At Shakey's Pizza Parlor)

Amazing bizarre private-press exploito LP by very obscure lounge trio. Promotes the now-defunct Shakey's Pizza chain, in order to promote the restaurants. Liner notes are by Shakey's execs and management, as well as "Uncle Freddie" Braga, the "Official clown and goodwill ambassador for Shakey's Pizza Parlors in the Houston area"! Hmmm....

Includes some indescribably WEIRD quasi-"psych". Lots of over-the top vocals and ODDBALL instruments and arrangements using electric autoharp (sounds almost like a prototype synthesizer!), a 'commodophone' (apparently made from a toilet – sounds like a cross between a trombone, kazoo, and injured animal) and twangy electric mandolin. Plus a deliciously weird and demented rendition of "House Of The Rising Sun", with heavy swirling organ that keeps building and building, fronted by lounge-lizard heavy-vibrato quasi-baritone vocals (think song-poem-goes-off-Broadway, only slight less professional), climaxing with an ultra-spastic misfiring fuzzy electric mandolin solo that boggles the mind! Gotta hear it to believe it!
