PHANTOM OF THE ORGAN (self-titled)

"HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU - DON'T BUG ME WHEN I'M PRACTICING MONSTER MASH!!!!...".

WOW! Demented mondo-bizarro spook-o-rama by "evil" phantom organist, known only as "Erik" (probably Producer/composer, Verne Langdon). On the tiny Electric Lemon label. Langdon and co-producer, Milt Larsen, are known among horror fans as the producers of the horror LP classic, "An Evening With Boris Karloff And Friends". Back cover gives a ghoulish, wacko "biography" of Erik and sordid description of the music. Includes cool little Electric Lemon discography insert.

This thing has gained CULT STATUS in outsider music. I've seen several reviews of this and they all give it 5 stars. Here are two sample on-line reviews:

"The Phantom does it BEST! I can't begin to rave enough! The chills on the epidermic layer of my inner ears were somewhere in the 4th dimension. This music OUTSPOOKS itself time after time. Every replay and repeat of its tracks STOPS me in mine. If I didn't know better, I'd say Ed Wood directed it, Bela Lugosi starred in it, and Vampira lurked in it. The fog floats right from the speaker and settles into your soul. Trick or Treat? I'd say BOTH with this Horror Masterpiece".

"...PHANTOM (performed by "noted Phantom Erik"!) is the stuff from which bad operas are made - a massive, wheezing, groaning, shuddery Wurli-Morton theatre organ (similar to the ones found in old movie houses and mortuaries!) coaxed through its paces (threnodies and miserares!) by Erik himself, PLUS a ghostly-ghastly-ghoulish harpsichord similar to none you've ever heard so abused, from which dirges and scourges emit at an eerie, nearly undead tempo. If it's "music for monstrosities" you're looking for, this just may be your lucky day!...a delightful sound trip through the catacombs only Charles Addams may have appreciated....when you hear the results, you might never again ask why no one before or since has attempted such an amazing effort...NOTHING tops THIS one!"
