O'lodeon, Nick (Plays Actual Music on His Kaleidocosmicorgrig, Vol. 1)
Totally off-the-wall wacko outsider concept LP featuring an amazing one-man band instrument: the kaleidocosmicorgrig, built by the performer, "Nick O'lodeon" (a.k.a., Nick Borwell). It's a 35 foot long, 12 foot tall contraption, weighing approximately two tons; made with parts of just about every kind of instrument and a plethora of other devices. The result is mondo-bizarro old-timey LUNACY, which sounds like a DERANGED calliope on steroids! Here, the artist plays a nutty mix of originals, Greek tunes and a few random others - mostly solo on the kaleidocosmicorgrig plus a bit of Marxophone zither and vocals, with occasional help by a few friends on vocals and guitar. Possibly recorded in a live concert (or at least in front of a few enthusiastic friends). Cover fetures a nice pic of the kaleidocosmicorgrig, plus other seemingly random photos on front, and super-weird liner notes with great graphics, little descriptions of each of the pictures on front, and a detailed description of the instrument, all woven together with nutty semi-intelligible cosmic philosophy about music and aquatic biology, presented in retro-style language chock-full of made-up words! Red vinyl.
