Better Life Institute (Smoking Control)

This from the land of the truly bizarre. Super strange private-press smoking control "audio therapy" LP, developed by the Better Life Institute (sounds like a cult, but I think they now sell nutrition products).

They call this "audio therapy", I call it "mind control". You're bombarded with subliminal messages, as pauses in the narration are taken out and phrases are played (and sometimes repeated) machine-gun style at up to 500 words per minute! Adding to the surreal nature, it's backed by lush strings and occasional environmental sounds, in an effort to "relax you". The net effect is hard to describe, but really quite creepy!

The back cover explains the theory behind this approach, using terms such as "Subliminal Perception", "Scan Hearing" and "Suggestopedia" (hmmmm...). And there's a bunch of almost imperceptible writing on the cover. It's obvious what's going on - these guys actually put SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES ON THE COVER! UNBELIEVABLE!
